Brenda Thaxton, BS, RDHBrenda Thaxton, BS, RDH

I was born in Covington, Kentucky. Reared in the Chicago area until the age of 14 then moved to the Harriman/ Rockwood area where the grandparents and family group resided (forever).  I then graduated from Oakdale High School (big class of 34) and went on to attend Tennessee Technological University for 3 years of pre-work (with high honors) and graduated from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences with a Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene (with high honors).

I taught in the department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology at the University of Tennessee. Soon after, I worked for 3 dentists in the community of DeRidder, Louisiana while my husband was in the U.S. Army at Ft. Polk.  And, I have worked 34 years with my husband, Dr. Steven Thaxton, in his practice in Lebanon, Tennessee. Through the years continuing education as been a major goal with at least 65 hours each year. As the state laws changed allowing expanded functions, I have taken the classes and state board examinations to provide all the services possible by a dental hygienist.

I love dentistry, my patients and the pleasure of practicing clinical procedures for my patients.

Dr. Thaxton and I met at TTU. We married in 1974. We have two children. Paul is 32 years old and lives in Nashville. Stefanie is 27 years old and lives in Daytona Beach, Florida. Selleigh is our 4 year old English Cocker Spaniel.

My out of office interests include bible study, gardening (I love to dig in the dirt), playing with the dog, sewing, traveling, staying out of my children’s’ business, and flying with my husband.

Moto: Life is a journey--- don’t miss it.

Born and raised in Lebanon, Tennessee, I have enjoyed working with the people of my community. I currently still reside here, married with two beautiful children. I enjoy spending time with my extended family, shopping and outdoor activities.

My education includes as Associates Degree in Health Sciences and a Dental Assisting Certificate from Volunteer State Community College. I am also a registered dental assistant with the state of Tennessee. It has been my pleasure to work in the dental field for more than 5 years and since 2007 with doctors Thaxton and Spencer.

Working in the dental field is so rewarding in that I have the opportunity to make a difference in patient’s lives as well as get to meet and socialize with new people. I truly enjoy working with our amazing patients on a daily basis and do not consider my position as a job but as my chosen career.
